Match Preview

Easington Colliery v Jarrow FC (17/09/2020)

Unusually for Jarrow, Thursday see’s the Blue & White army travel to Easington Colliery.

The last few meetings between the sides at Welfare Park have provided some great football but ultimately always a victory for the home side.

Even last seasons 4-2 win for Easington was a stand out game with Jarrow employing a new 5 at the back system and struggling for the first 45 but managing to come alive in the second.

It would also appear that early on in the season when Jarrow do travel down the A19 to Welfare Park, Easington are always near the top of the league and they enjoy fast starts to the season. They were top during last season’s game. They are an attractive side to watch at home and tonight should be no different as the home side sit 6th with 2 wins from 2 having a game in hand over most teams due to their postponed fixture with Washington last week.

For Jarrow they will have no doubt taken confidence from last week’s win over Durham City where an Adam Lennox hattrick got the Blue & White army their first 3 points.

Having already also beaten Durham City, Easington also collected 3 points against Billingham Synthonia where Jarrow have lost to Birtley and drew with West Allotment.

With only 1 league place separating the sides last season (Jarrow 8th, Easington 9th) tonight’s game should prove another fascinating encounter.

Even if the football doesn’t prove to be as good as it has been I’m sure that seaside view the ground has on a mild summer’s night will no doubt make it an enjoyable one for everyone watching.

Enjoy the game
