Steeton
AFC v Jarrow FC (19/09/2020)
Steeton Association Football have been around for 115 years
having been founded in 1905 and currently ply their trade in the North West
Counties League Division One North, The same level as Jarrow’s last season’s FA
Vase opponents Vauxhall Motors.
Despite hailing from West Yorkshire Steeton currently play
their home games at Lancashire club Barnoldswick Towns ground. They had been
ground sharing with Rugby League side Keighley Cougars but that ended in 2019.
They now await their own ground being given the go ahead before they can move
in.
3 Seasons ago when the North West counties League split into
a Premier division with two sections below it, Steeton were added to the North
Division where they managed a credible 15th position scoring 80 goals in just
38 games. Carlisle City incidentally leaving the League and joining Jarrow in
the Northern league Division two.
Last year’s league was ultimately a disappointing one for
Steeton and they were teetering in 19th place before the lock down and an end
to football struck the country.
They will be looking to start this campaign strongly with the
FA Vase game being there first competitive fixture since March.
Their ability to score goals seems clear, and should provide
spectators with another great game as Jarrow have started the season in good
form themselves. This will be Steeton’s first competitive fixture of the
new season as their League doesn’t start until October.
Steeton play in full green Shirts, Shorts & Socks.
