MATCH PREVIEW RYTON & CRAWCROOK ALBION

MATCH PREVIEW – RYTON & CRAWCROOK

Another Saturday, and another home game for Jarrow with this being their 4th in a row.

Both Ryton & Jarrow had relatively good seasons last year until Covid struck and indeed Jarrow have already beaten Ryton twice this calendar year doing the Division 2 double over RACA despite the latter being 3rd in the league at that time. That is in stark contrast to how things have faired this season with both sides languishing at the wrong end of the table and a win on Saturday would go a long way to turning their fortunes round.

Formed in 1970 The Albion boast a youth system akin to Jarrow’s ranging from 6 to the senior side.

Since 1970 RACA have had a steady rise through the divisions until attaining a place in the newly formed Northern Alliance league Division 1, then they achieved promotion to the Premier division in 1997 where they stayed for 7 seasons.

After that they then managed to attain Northern League status by finishing 3rdand being promoted into the Northern League Division 2 where they have stayed ever since. Beating Jarrow to Northern League status by 11 years.

There have been memorable games between the sides in the years since Jarrow joined them in the Division including a thumping win for RACA at Perth Green when they scored twice direct from corners!

Every game in the Northern league is a tough one and Saturday will be no different but we welcome two new signings into the club who will be hoping to make an immediate impact. Peter Jones and Scott Wallace joined us late Wednesday evening and we are looking forward to seeing them in Blue & White.

Enjoy the game, and wear a mask!
