Non stop rain had fell on South Tyneside for almost 24 hours yet the pitch staff at Perth Green managed to prepare a surface that was in better shape than that of the Premier League encounter at Ellend road in Leeds on the same night. It was Gateshead who drew first blood in a first half littered with chances for both sides. Eddie Thomas latched onto a through ball and slotted home past Hubery in the Jarrow goal to make it 1-0 to the visitors. With Warrington top of the North West counties Premier and Jarrow near the bottom of the Northern League division 2 the form book was firmly with the side from the North West but Jarrow, having knocked out higher tier opposition in the last round wouldn’t be knocked out without a fight. As Warrington were unbeaten in their respective League, Jarrow set themselves up to contain the away teams attacking threat in the first half but struggled at times to stop Warrington’s midfield from breaking through.   Match Preview Jarrow v Warrington Rylands - Saturday 12 th December 2020 Warrington Rylands 1906 currently ply their trade in the North West Counties League Premier Division. For Jarrow supporters they will know two teams from the two split divisions below that. Steeton & Vauxhall Motors who we have played in the last two seasons and are in the North & South divisions respectively. They currently sit top of that division with an impressive 4 wins from 5 and are unbeaten, along with having played two fewer games than some of their closest rivals in the division. The Rylands recently received a massive boost to the club in the form of Wayne Rooney’s agent Paul Stretford who took over as Chairman and owner. They seem to have South Shields style ideas of grandeur and almost achieved the first phase of that ideal last season before covid cut their promotion push into the Northern Premier short.
