Northern League Division 2 30/08/2021 – 3pm Kick Off Jarrow FC 3 – 2 Blyth Town 12’ Shaw, 55’ Blackburn, 61’ Hargrave | 42’ Gibson, 53’ Brannen Jarrow made one change from the side that had just won 2 away games in a row with Jackson Waller making way for Kris Allen on a baking hot August afternoon. The match started tentatively with neither side able to gain a foothold in the game until a Kris Allen through ball to Gary Shaw almost broke the deadlock on 9 minutes. The angle was tight for Shaw however and as he drove the ball towards goal, Sean in the Blyth goal saved well. The break through did come soon after though on 12 minutes as a defence splitting ball from Brian Johnson sent Hargrave chasing down the right, because of the quality of the pass the defender had to deal with it but only managed to poke it back towards his own goalkeeper, the ball looped off Sean in the Blyth goal and fell kindly to Gary Shaw who slotted home from a few yards out for his 3rd goal of the

Match Preview Blyth Town Saturday sees Blyth Town travel the 15 miles south to face Jarrow at Perth Green.  Blyth currently sit 3 places below their South Tyneside opponents in 15th place having won 2 of their opening Northern League games this time round. Their latest of those two victories came on Wednesday evening, as they overcame a Brandon side who had scored 6 the previous week. Blyth will be hoping they can build on that 3-2 win against a Jarrow team who themselves have enjoyed an indifferent start the new season. Blyth are back in the Northern League after a 2 season absence after they were forced to resign from Division 1 a few games into the season after winning Division 2 at the first time of asking. At the time of their resignation they were known as Blyth Town AFC but now have gone back to the original name of Blyth Town.  On their way to winning Division 2 in 2018 Blyth thrashed Jarrow 6-1 at Perth Green during a season where they scored 95 goals in 40 games. Match Preview Boldon CA v Jarrow (24-08-2021)

Match Preview Boldon CA   On Tuesday evening Jarrow travel the short distance across the train tracks to visit newly promoted Wearside league neighbours Boldon CA. Boldon have enjoyed a promising start to life in the Northern League having been unbeaten in 5 games until they narrowly lost to much fancied for promotion Billingham Synthonia 3-2 on Saturday. Billingham also lead the way in division 2 and it will have been good learning curve for the men from South Tyneside who had scored 19 goals in 5 games before the game at Norton sports complex. 10 of those goals coming in the 10-0 mauling of Durham City in their first ever Northern League home game. Historically Boldon were one of the founder members of the Wearside league way back in 1892, the same year ironically that the two Newcastle sides East & West merged to form ‘United’. For the past 15 seasons Boldon have kept a relatively steady mid to high placed finish from their league campaigns until last season’s Covid-19

Washington 1-6 Jarrow FC (21/08/2021) 3pm Kick Off

Northern League Division 2 21/08/2021 – 3pm Kick Off Washington 1-6 Jarrow FC 55’ Unknown | 14’, 31’, 50’, 64’ Blackburn, 33’ Waller, 43’ Hargrave Both teams went into the game on Saturday having lost 6-1 in their previous match. Washington away at Brandon & Jarrow at home Willington and if there was ever a game that promised goals it was this one. For the first 14 minutes the game was fairly even with both sides carving out half chances, Blackburn scoring a rightly ruled out for offside tap in. Washington had decent possession in the opening advances of the game and had a series of corners that amounted to nothing. On 14 minutes another Gary Shaw cross found Jason Blackburn who scored his first goal of the season with a right foot tap in. The Tall striker had already put the ball in the earlier only for his effort to be rules out for offside. 1-0. The home side responded well however and had a few chances to equalise before Jarrow took control of the game. First a right footed sho

Tow law Town 3-1 Jarrow FC (11/08/2021 – 7.30pm)

Northern League Division 2 11/08/2021 – 7.30pm Kick Off Tow law Town 3-1 Jarrow FC 20’ McAloon, 22’ Hurworth, 41’ Moffat | 35’, North On a night where the sun shone directly into the eyes of Jarrow’s players in the first half they paid the price for sloppy defending against a quick and incisive side on a pleasant evening in August. The game started evenly with the home side attempting to cut the Jarrow defence open within the first few minutes of the game but both efforts were cut out by defenders Scott Wallace & Darryll Donnelly. For Jarrow’s part a Kris Allen through ball was blazed over the bar by Jason Blackburn. The game followed that pattern for much of the game, slow measured build up from the visitors, quick release ball and men bombing forward behind the lines for Tow Law. Kris Allen was doing a good job of breaking up play throughout an entertaining opening 20 minutes. The warning sign for Jarrow ‘s new look 3 at the back defence came on 9 minutes however wh

Newcastle Uni 2-2 Jarrow FC (07/08/2021 – 3pm)

Northern League Division 2 07/08/2021 – 3pm Kick Off Newcastle Uni 2-2 Jarrow FC 20’ Waller (OG), 45’ Coates | 28’, 56’ North   On Saturday Jarrow travelled to Prudhoe to face the tough challenge of Newcastle Uni at Kimberly Park, having lost 2-1 on our only other Northern League visit their two seasons ago. In what proved to be an ultimately scrappy affair it was Jarrow who had the first notable chance of the game with the brilliant Gary Shaw hitting the post after being played in behind by Jason Blackburn and turning away from his marker along the touchline. The ball was continually given away by both sides and on 20 minutes Newcastle won a corner, the ball was then curled into the box and bounced before it entered the 6-yard area, causing confusion amongst the Jarrow defence and in trying to stop the ball from getting to the Uni forward Jackson Waller inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for the opening goal. If he hadn’t went for it however Newcastle would’v

Match Preview - Newcastle Uni vs Jarrow FC - Saturday 7th August 2021

Match Preview Newcastle Uni vs Jarrow FC (Saturday 7 th  August 2021 Northern League Division 2)   On Saturday we travel 18 miles West across the country to the town of Prudhoe for another visit to play Newcastle University FC at a ground that they share with former Northern League side Prudhoe Town FC. Our last visit to Kimberley Park ended in defeat as we lost 2-1 in a closely fought encounter. Newcastle University first found themselves playing competitively in the Northern Alliance League back in 1976 and in the 30 years that proceeded that inception they have floated between the first and second divisions, even sometimes dropping out of the League altogether. That potted history however was about to change in 2018 when they managed to be promoted to the Northern League Division 2 and all the hard work had finally paid off. This will be Newcastle Uni’s third season in the Northern League and will be hoping that its third time lucky so that they can actually finish a league

Jarrow FC 2 – 1 Carlisle City (04/08/2021) Northern League Division 2

Northern League Division 2 04/08/2021 – 7.45pm Kick Off Jarrow FC 2 – 1 Carlisle City 3’ Blackburn, 35’ North | 77’ Atkinson  On another sun drenched evening on South Tyneside Jarrow entertained Carlisle City in their second home game in 5 days at the beginning of the new season. Unlike Saturday against Easington however Jarrow’s bright opening to the game was rewarded sooner than they could’ve hoped. Within 2 minutes a ball over the top to Jason Blackburn was wrongly given offside but the signs were good with Carlisle playing a high line and Indeed only a minute later Blackburn turned provider playing a through ball into the path of Channon North who coolly slotted home. The next few chances though fell to the visitors as they tried to get themselves back into the game. There was a shot that was flashed wide after 23 minutes and a series of blocked shots and great challenges kept the visitors at bay. A solid defensive performance from Darryll Donnelly & Kris Summers protected go
