Its 12 months and a few weeks since Jarrow bowed out of last years competition reaching the 1 st round proper for the first time in the club’s history. This season they will be looking to go one better if they can over come a side flying high in the tier above. The Ammers hail from Leeds and play their football in the Northern Counties East League which is the equivalent to our Northern League Division One. The Leeds team have already visited the north East once this season losing on Penalties to Crook Town in the FA cup in a mid-week fixture so they will be looking for revenge as the make the trip up the A1. Yorkshire Amateur were formed in 1918 and have enjoyed FA cup success reaching the 1 st Round proper on two occasions.   Both times losing to third division opponents in Carlisle & Lincoln City r

Northern League Division Two Billingham Synthonia 2 – 1   Jarrow 24/10/2020 –3pm Kick Off   26’ Howes, 34’ Bielby | 49’ Shaw   Saturday saw Billingham Synthonia take all 3 points against a much-improved Jarrow at Norton Sports Complex. It was the visitors however who started the brighter in a game of very few clear-cut chances. Playing at centre half Nick Little making his 12 th appearance in all competitions for Jarrow played a long ball over the top that split the Billingham defence wide open. The ball however seemed to just run away from Adam Lennox slightly and his right foot shot when bearing down on goal somehow didn’t manage to hit the target. The breakthrough did come in the 26 th minute though as a slide through ball was met by Kurtis Howes who was brought down from behind by Chris Smith and the referee pointed to the spot. Howes then coolly converted the penalty and the home side were 1-0 up. Less than 10 minutes later and the Synners had there second of

Match Preview - Billingham Synthonia Saturday 24th October

Match Preview - Billingham Synthonia Saturday 24 th October   In bizarre circumstances this fixture last season was cancelled at short notice due to a pandemic that had spread across the globe. It was big news at the time back in March 2020, you may have heard about it………….Anyway, it marked the end of the Northern League season. The last two fixtures between the two sides have been quite contrasting with a comfortable win for both the home sides, Billingham smashing 4 past the blue and army the last time the two sides met at Norton and Jarrow comfortable 2-0 winners at Perth Green. Billingham Synthonia are one of the most famous non-league teams in the north east, founded in 1923 the Synners have  reached the 1 st  round proper of the FA Cup an incredible 7 times. They have also been Northern League Division 1 champions on 4 separate occasions, the last of which came during the 1995-96 season. In the early days the club played their games at Belasis Lane and it was there

Jarrow FC 4 – 1 Ryton & Crawcrook Albion (17/10/2020 – 3pm)

Northern League Division 2 17/10/2020 – 3pm Kick Off Jarrow FC 4 – 1 Ryton & Crawcrook Albion 38’ Kerr, 50’ Jones, 72’ Allen(P), 88’ Lennox | 65’ Own Goal (Hargrave)   Jarrow gave debuts to new signings Peter Jones and Gary Shaw in midfield and stuck with Davey Smith & Nick Little as centre halves in a back 4 that also included Phil Gray & Ross Toward. The opening exchanges were quite even and it took until the 10 th for a real chance to be created with RACA’s new signing Cahill-Taylor beating his man down the right before dinking a cross in the area that was well watched and elegantly cleared by Ross Toward who was facing his own goal line at the time. A tame header from Jarrow forward Adam Lennox was then well saved but the game was starting to pick up with Ryton again breaking and seeing there effort just land wide of the Jarrow goal. New signing Gary Shaw then moved goalward along the by-line on 15 minutes and picked out Glen Hargrave who slid in and po

MATCH PREVIEW RYTON & CRAWCROOK ALBION

MATCH PREVIEW – RYTON & CRAWCROOK   Another Saturday, and another home game for Jarrow with this being their 4 th  in a row. Both Ryton & Jarrow had relatively good seasons last year until Covid struck and indeed Jarrow have already beaten Ryton twice this calendar year doing the Division 2 double over RACA despite the latter being 3 rd  in the league at that time. That is in stark contrast to how things have faired this season with both sides languishing at the wrong end of the table and a win on Saturday would go a long way to turning their fortunes round. Formed in 1970 The Albion boast a youth system akin to Jarrow’s ranging from 6 to the senior side. Since 1970 RACA have had a steady rise through the divisions until attaining a place in the newly formed Northern Alliance league Division 1, then they achieved promotion to the Premier division in 1997 where they stayed for 7 seasons.  After that they then managed to attain Northern League status by finishing 3 rd and being

Jarrow FC 3-2 Birtley Town (10/10/2020 3pm)

FA Vase Qualifying Round 2 Jarrow FC 3-2 Birtley Town 10/10/2020 3pm Kick Off 10’ Hargrave, 52’ Allen, 92’ Lennox | 7’ Caygill, 37’ Barwick On a day that resembled summer the sun shone over Jarrow’s Blue and White army and saw the South Tynesider’s progress though to the next round of the Vase at the expense of Birtley Town who matched Jarrow for quality and passing throughout the 90 minutes. Things started slowly in what would be a great encounter but after 5 minutes the tone was set for the rest of the game. The dangerous Adam Lennox managed to wriggle free from his defender and unselfishly square the ball to Glen Hargrave who found himself with perhaps too much time before drawing a quite remarkable save from Phillip Mills in the Birtley goal diving to his left and one handed he guided the ball out for a corner. Only seconds later and it was 1-0 to visitors who broke from the corner, forced a corner of there own and after a great delivery from the right Caygill powerful

Match Preview - Tow Law Town

Match Preview - Tow Law Town   On Saturday Jarrow entertain Tow Law Town in 3pm kick off.    At the time of writing this preview before Wednesdays round of fixtures Tow Law sat in 13th place just one place below Jarrow having played the same amount of games, 6. Both sides had also won 2, lost 3 and drawn once. Remarkably both sides had scored 7 and conceded 11 so literally the only thing separating the two clubs was 10 letters! In fact, the Lawyers are so consistently parallel with Jarrow that the two sides last season were only separated by 1 point with Tow law taking 8th and the South Tynesider’s just below them in 9th. Tow law managed to draw one more game that their blue and white counterparts. The last time the two teams met we had a splattering of snow in Tow Law and Jarrow managed to come out on top in an extremely entertaining but tough game with the game at Perth Green ending as you would expect in a 1-1 draw.  Both sides have very tough midweek fixtures away from home with
